The Corona Foundation is a non-profit private institution,
founded in 1963 by the Echavarria Family. It aims at
contributing to poverty reduction and the generation of equity
in Colombia. It supports programs and innovative initiatives of
high social impact which contribute to the strengthening of the
institutional capacity local, regional and national
organizations. The Foundation focuses in four key strategic
areas: i) Education, ii) Health, iii) Entrepreneurial
Development, and iv) Local and Community Management.
To achieve its goals the Foundation has designed the following
strategies:
i) Promotion of initiatives that contribute to the development
and application of effective management models that can be
applied to different social organizations such as schools,
hospitals, micro-business and community organizations; ii)
Improvement in the design and implementation of public policy;
and iii) promotion of responsible citizen’s participation
practices.
The Foundation promotes and participates actively in the
formulation of projects; it generates alliances among different
entities; co-finances projects; searches for suitable project
executors; and provides a close monitoring and evaluation
process.
Work Criteria

effective mean to generate social equity.
- Project approval according to innovative projects which
creates new knowledge and social change.
- Delegated execution through alliances/ networks.
- Selection of interventions with the greater probability
of being effective and expected systematic and lasting

Our Mission

To achieve its goals, the Corona Foundation finances programs
and projects in four strategic areas. The main objectives of
these areas are:
Entrepreneurial
Development
Its primary purpose is to promote entrepreneurial development to
stimulate productive employment and increase family income in
formal sectors of the economy.
Education
Its main purpose is to contribute to the improvement of quality,
relevance and coverage of initial, basic and middle education to
open up opportunities for kids and young people that live in
poverty.
Community and Local Management
Its main purpose is to promote citizen participation,
transparency and effectiveness of local governments.
Health
Its primary purpose is to contribute to quality improvement,
relevance and awareness of health policies, institutions and
